Made within the family and integrated into the home, these works were not only functional objects but also carriers of intimacy, memory and collective identity. Rather than reproducing this tradition, Morevi approaches it as a point of departure for bringing its material processes, cultural meaning and historical context into dialogue with their own visual language and perspective. The making proceeds through repetitive gestures, pressure, warm water and friction, gradually transforming loose fibers into dense surfaces. In this process, visual language emerges as an extension of the act of making rather than existing separately from it. The image develops through repetition and recursion, while the organic behavior of the felting process introduces shifts, irregularities and unforeseen responses that guide each step of its making. The finished tapestry holds the trace of this physical labor, preserving within its dense surface the imprint of each gesture and its formation through time. As the oldest and most elemental textile technique, felting forms the material ground of Terra and Limen, 2 series shaped by equally ancient and archetypal ideas. They unfold as opposing yet interdependent poles: Terra is grounded in weight, matter and physical presence, while Limen, hand dyed with indigo, turns toward threshold, distance and that which exceeds the tangible. Together, they give form to a tension between what is rooted and what drifts, what can be touched and what opens beyond the material. Working primarily with textiles, their practice unfolds at the intersection of contemporary visual art and cultural memory, grounded in the reinterpretation of traditional craft. Their work centers on natural materials, slow manual processes, and a close relationship between maker, material, and landscape. Through repetitive and meditative gestures, their process allows form to emerge from a dialogue between human intention and the internal logic of material transformation. Using techniques such as hand felting and natural indigo dyeing, Morevi approaches craft not as preservation but as transformation.
